WORKSHOP ON RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP FOR SUSTAINABLE PEACE

Speaking during the opening of the workshop, the Dean of the University of Buea Faculty of Arts (Professor Nol Alembong) appreciated the effort of Local Youth Corner Cameroon, Actions for Change Cameroon as well as partners such as the Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network Cameroon, Students of the University of Buea Peace and security Programme and the University of Buea American Corner for making the project a reality and for setting the paste for others to follow. In his words, he called on participants to take serious the resources from the workshop and fully engage in it. On Behalf of the organizing team, Mr. Ntui Oben Obi gave a brief description on the concept of the project laying emphasis on its main aim to bridge the gap between the academia and professionals which is a necessity for sustainable peace in the world. Also speaking during the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Tangnang Andrew who is the secretary of Local Youth Corner Cameroon threw some light on the mission of Local Youth Corner the its numerous works done in the domain of peace, Security and youth de-radicalisation . To crown the opening ceremony, Dr. Ndille Roland expressed his gratitude to the various bodies which partnered for the project and especially the project initiators who have worked all through to make the workshop a great success.

During the workshop, participants brainstormed on what roles they ought to play in maintaining peace in their respective communities and also participated in group work. The workshop was engaging with breakout sessions which gave participants the opportunities to reflect on certain group topics and do presentations through the help of secretaries.
At the end of the workshop, participants expressed the desire to be part of the next series. With the achievements of the pilot phase of the project, the organizers were motivated to continue despite the challenges encountered during the first series.
