TOWARDS A PEACEFUL SOCIETY

TOWARDS A PEACEFUL SOCIETY

(A poem presented at the Synod Office Hall of the PCC during the closing of the 2nd TOT Conflict Transformation Workshop organized by the PCC Peace Office)

10 days have come and gone,
Finally we are done.
These days have run,
It has been fun.

We came from the heart of the Nation,
We were from the hills of Bamenda,
We were from Foumban where our fathers discussed our marriage,
We came from the town of the Bells and Akwa
We emerged from the towns of the Endeleys and Manga William

We sprang from one mother and father,
Whose principles we assembled to lay emphasis on
We came from high and lowlands,
We came from a land in need of our hands and minds,
We are from Peace.

Conflict transformation was the song we sang
All in our search for a smiling world
Where nonviolence is king
And made our thing.

Seventeen strong men and women of timber,
Not forgetting caliber.
From the nooks and cranny of Cameroun,
Refilling their brains at the foot of Mount Cameroon.

A team inspired by dynamism,
Inspiration and openness
These were the ingredients of our ten days journey
At the Holy Hills of the PCC.

Mr.Tarhyang and his silent comedy,
Rev Ntah cannot be left out
Njeumo and his time keeping skills,
Mr.Ndasi could not be separated from Peace journalism
And Mr. Makarios could faint if children did not appear in his presentation.

What a journey it has been.
A journey of blueprints and beefing ups,
A journey of religious tolerance and consideration
A journey of humility and simplicity

It has been a journey that seemed long at the first step
But only a stone throw at the end.
It’s been a journey dedicated to peace
And love.

Now the journey has come to an end,
And we are en route to our comfort zones.
What new impact shall we create?
How inspiring will our efforts be?

Shall we take off our garments of peace and act nonviolently?
Shall we seat and watch while injustice prevails?
Shall we dance and wine while innocent children die in front of us?
Or shall we only practice nonviolence on papers?

The world awaits us.
Not only as reformed trainers
But as people who resemble their trainings.
People who will seek peaceful solution despite the heat.

Let’s sing peace, let’s dance it
Let’s have it as breakfast, lunch and dinner,
Let’s match our preaching with our actions
Let’s not only be spectators in the peace Mission
We can be spec actors if not actors.

10 days are gone,
And we are on journey towards a peaceful world.
Let this peace be practical,
Both in the dark and light.

Our trip to the Synod of the PCC is over.
And this hall will not echo our voices again.
Majorie,Ben,Joseph,Sandrine,Ngafi,Nathalie, Saidu,Joel,Franca
Mariama,Jerome,Nta, Catherine,Djeumo,Makarious,Gilbert and Tarhyand.
All will go,
But shall this connection be cut off?

The workshop is over,
And the time to implement is now.
Let’s keep the network
The world needs us.
PEACE IS POSSIBLE
Its goodbye from Wolf and I
